Beauty Haul & Quick Review! Featuring Brands: Doterra, Himalaya Herbals, Essence & Maybelline

It’s currently the second day of Ramadan here in Dubai and the heat is unbearable outside. People would just rather stay at home than go to malls during the day.
As for myself, it’s the opposite. I prefer going to malls during this time because well it’s not crowded. I had a bit of shopping a few days back. Actually, I just wanted to buy the Himalaya fairness cream. A beauty product hoarder that I am, I also bought Essence Nail Polish Remover and Maybelline Color Show in shade pink bikini.
However, I didn’t buy the Doterra Citrus Bliss bath bar. It’s actually a gift from my Manager (thanks, boss!) And that completes my mini beauty haul. ❤

Doterra Spa Citrus Bliss Invigorating Bath Bar

This is the most amazing citrus soap I have ever owned in my entire life of existence.
My apologies for exaggerating it but, it really is! This bath bar is still inside the box and yet you can smell them so good! But one thing that really interests me with this bath bar is that it has the blend of essential oils, exfoliating milled oats, and natural emollients from coconut, sunflower, and safflower oils. It claims that it is completely free from harsh, artificial fragrances and colors; and other ingredients that can be irritating to the skin.

Ingredients: Sodium Sunflowerate (Sunflower) and/or Sodium Safflowerate (Safflower), Sodium Palmate (Palm), Sodium Cocoate (Coconut), Sodium Hydroxide, Cymbopogon flexuosus (Lemongrass) Oil, Citrus sinensis (Wild Orange) Oil, Citrus limon (Lemon) Oil, Citrus x paradisi (Grapefruit) Oil, Citrus reticulata (Mandarin Orange) Oil, Citrus Bergamia (Bergamot) Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Tangerine) Oil, Citrus Clementina (Clementine) Oil, Vanilla planifolia (Vanilla Bean), Avena sativa (Oat) kernel; Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Extract

Essential oils are known to have therapeutic properties. This bath bar contains these oils that scientifically helps us achieve smooth and healthy skin.
You can either use it while in the shower or taking a bath.
The exfoliating milled oats are enough to mildly scrub those dead skin cells on your skin. This bath bar lathers very well and even after shower or bath, you can really still smell the citrus scent. Yum!

However, one thing I dislike about this product is that it can easily melt.
I accidentally left this bath bar once and forgot to put the soap covering lid and after a day… it turned into a liquid paste. 😦 So if you are planning to buy this type of soap, make sure to have it properly covered after use.

Himalaya Herbals Natural Glow Fairness Cream

I use Himalaya products from time to time. Not just because of their affordable price range of products but I can tell that the previous products I’ve used really worked on my skin. I actually saw this fairness cream on a TV commercial and decided to give it a try. One thing that instantly made me buy this product is due to the product’s claim that it reduces blemishes, dark spots and dark circles.
Besides inheriting my dad’s dark circles, sleeping late and not removing my makeup at night tend to give me these skin problems.

Himalaya Natural Glow Fairness Cream is enriched with a Phyto-vitamin Complex with other key ingredients such as alfalfa, saffron and other essential vitamins.
And oh, its also paraben-free! Although this is a fairness cream, I don’t think it will totally make your skin fair but will rather reduce blemishes, dark spots and dark circles.

I like how they produced this product on a tube instead of tub jars. You can easily open the green cap and squeeze the product without contaminating the whole cream. The cream is quite pinkish in color but turns into white once applied. The consistency, however, are sticky and creamy. I tried applying this both day and night, and from my experience, It is better to use it at night time.

Applying it on my face during the day where I need to wear make-up just doesn’t go well. Even if I put primer on my face, it just made my foundation/BB Cream looked all flaky and uneven. So that is why I prefer using this at night.
(plus the smell puts me to sleep. :D)

The cream is quite pinkish in color but turns into white once applied.
The consistency, however, are sticky and cream-ish.

I quite agree with their claim “visible results in 4 weeks”. I used this for over two weeks every night and I’ve seen minimal results on my under eye circles, blemishes on my chin and sides of my nose have all been reduced.
But since I am already fair, I can’t really tell whether this product made me look more fairer but I would say that it rather made my face look glowing, healthy and vibrant.

Essence Nail Polish Remover Coconut + Papaya

Having a busy schedule hinders me from putting and erasing nail color on my nails. (Yikes!)

I can smell the coconut along with the strong scent of Acetone. Clearly, this contains a strong amount of Acetone which can dry out your nails.
Although they’ve already included moisturizing properties, I don’t think it is enough to moisturize your nails. If you don’t like Acetone as the main ingredient of your nail polish remover, I don’t think this is the right product for you.

But the good news is.. Essence also have the non-acetone version. You can check them out on your local stores, if available.

Honestly, I don’t recommend this nail polish remover to ladies that puts 3 to 4 coats of nail polish. If so, you would have to rub them endlessly on your cotton pad and will still leave some of the colors on your nails.
I personally don’t really mind having another cotton pad since I don’t do my nails that often. I make sure that I put my moisturizing hand cream so my nails will stop drying out completely.

Maybelline Color Show by Colorama in shade Mezmerizing Magenta

The color is very bold and strong when applied. I tried putting it alone without any base and it didn’t turned out nice. One coat isn’t enough so you may need to put another 2 or even 3 to fully cover each of your nails. So it is best to put the base coat first before applying.

Thank you for taking time reading my first post! I hope this post of mine are in any way helpful to all of you.

Love lots! ❤
